Welcome to Avis Ale Works. Yes, we brew beer. We love brewing good beers. But what we really want to be about is brewing a better world. The contribution we want to make in order to help make that happen is to be a place where interesting and important conversations take place. We think that is where the kinds of personal synergy happen that causes ideas to evolve and the passion and partnerships to implement them that could help move the human project forward.
Brewing beer is about putting quality ingredients together in interesting combinations, letting them ferment for awhile, and then helping the results find their way into someone’s glass where they make their life just a little bit better. That’s what we hope we can accomplish with beer and with the people who hang around drinking it with us.
Check out what’s brewing at Avis Ale Works. Subscribe to our newsletter and like our Facebook page to stay up on what’s brewing and who’s talking about what around here. On the menu right now:
Beers on tap: milk stout on nitro
What Would Jesus Brew? Brad’s ruminations as a “pastor in recovery” about where the project might have gone wrong and the better directions it may be heading in a post-church, post-christian, post-religious world. Check out the calendar for upcoming meetups.
Blah Blah Blah. Peter’s take on the current political doings and what they might mean regarding the messes we’ve gotten ourselves into and possible ways to extricate ourselves and move forward in a better direction. Check the calendar for upcoming meetups and topics.
Are you kidding me with this? Juliet’s thoughts as a doctoral candidate in education on where we are and where we might be heading regarding society, education and how we can help each other be who we really want to be as a community globally and locally.
Meet the team:
Rick Heinrichs: hop head, brewmeister and designated all around cool guy and operations dude. Makes it all happen.
Peter Kunkel: The brains behind the operation, keeping us on track and down to earth and making sure everything is safe and sanitized.
Brad Kunkel: Avis Ale Work’s only official seer and delusional dreamer. Also our chef, manning the pizza oven and bbq to make meetups all that they can be.
Rhonda Kunkel: Making valient efforts to keep all the tops spinning within their designated radius, tasting beer as a non beer drinker so we really knows what’s up with this stuff, and pouring the wine for her and our friends who don’t go for the barley based stuff.
Juliet Kunkel: showing up for pizza and beer and talking about the important stuff. Maybe lighting one up with us on stogie nights.
Sue Reilly: The spider at the center of the web, holding it all together (the good kind, like Charlotte: not like Shelob). Making the numbers add up, or down, or sideways: webs go all directions. If you don't like our Facebook posts, you can blame her, and please contact her to participate in our crowd funding campaign and be a part of the delicious mayhem (hey: sounds like a good name for a beer).
You. Bringing your unique you to our firepit or other conversation areas and helping us create and celebrate connections that will help us all get somewhere good. Do you have a meetup you want to host that you think fits with the groove here? Get in touch: let’s pour one together and talk about it.
