A full day of cooking lessons in your own home!

OK, so you've got this kitchen and you keep asking yourself: how do I make the most of it (or the best come out of it)? Why not schedule a cook date with chef Brad designed to give you a solid basis of the cooking fundamentals that you would have to pay a lot of money to learn in cooking school?

A full day of cooking with instructions on all the tips and techniques needed to turn out food that you'll be proud to serve your guests includes two sessions of three hours each.  Invite a couple friends to make a day of it (and share the costs).  The service fee is the same as a normal cook date, and the cost of groceries will depend on menus, but probably be between $100 and $200.

What will I learn during my private lessons?
During our consultation to decide menus, we'll talk about what you really want to get out of a day of private lessons.  Here's my suggestions to start with:

Two menus each utilizing the four main proteins: poultry, beef, pork, and fish.  I suggest using a different technique for each menu, such as braising, saute'-ing, slow cooking, etc.

For each protein we can also go through the basics of creating flavor profiles from various cuisines: italian, southwest, far east, etc. with some of the typical spices and techniques for each.

Fabricating (chef talk for cutting up) a chicken, and basic stocks.  Making one cream and one broth type soup.

At least one each pasta and rice or pilaf dish, including things like orzo, cous-cous, quinoa, etc. , as well as giving the lowly potato some character.

How to take vegetables from just steamed to full of flavor.

The basics of safety and sanitation will be emphasized throughout the day.
