Butterfly

When I came to pastor Valley Life Worship Center, I met an absolutely wonderful elderly couple by the name of Alex and Neda Ginder.  After a short while, Neda passed away and at her funeral I spoke a message using a butterfly as a metaphor for her life.  At the one year anniversary of her death, I wrote this song for Alex, in memory of Neda.

Have you ever seen a butterfly on the breeze
So delicate, so beautiful
Fluttering to and fro through the trees
Have you ever known a butterfly, soft and fine
To land on your upturned hand
Allowing you to be her friend for a time

Butterfly on the breeze
Won’t you come here to me
You will be my butterfly

Have you ever lost a butterfly in the sun
Flying off to who knows where
Its time to go from here to there
And you’re alone
You want to follow your butterfly but you know
From where you stand here far behind
To where she’s gone its not the time
For you to go

 Butterfly you will see
The time will come when I’ll be
Once again with my butterfly
